Dr. Kevin King, a former police officer, became Senior Pastor of Palestine Baptist Church in January 2014. Kevin is married to his high school sweetheart, Joy, and they have three children: Daylee, Kevin Jr. and Julianna. Holding two doctorate degrees, one in expository preaching from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the other in church history from the University of Pretoria in South Africa, Dr. King is also an Associate Professor of Homiletics and Historical Theology at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. His passion for ministry that lives out the Great Commission coupled with a rich and robust theological understanding fits PBC’s core values: passion for community, the desire to reach out to those outside of our immediate faith family, vibrant and passionate worship, love of life and laughter.
Kevin encourages, “Come check us out for four weeks in a row. Why four weeks? Just in case I “strike out” on a particular Sunday. Seriously, I think that when you go to a church for four consecutive weeks you begin to get a feel for what it is important to them. I would also add to come to our fellowship meal on Wednesday, Bible study time on Sunday morning, any time we gather you are welcome. As you do, I think you will discover we are just like you in many ways. Our dreams for our kids lives are probably similar. We have similar struggles and joys in life, just like you do. The difference–and I think you will discover a difference at PBC–is that we are sharing life together and accepting our strengths and weaknesses in a way that hopefully points people to the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and builds deep and long lasting relationships with the members of the church family here at PBC. God loves you enough to take you right where you are, but He loves you too much to leave you there. I want to PBC to be the kind of church that walks with people on that kind of journey. “
